My Christmas Edit of the William Morris Gallery Shop (and receive 20% off my selected items!)

William-Morris-Gallery-Shop-1.jpeg

I remember the first time I fell upon the William Morris Gallery. I couldn’t quite believe that it existed here, in Walthamstow, just a short stroll from my front door. The stunning grade II listed Georgian house was built in the 1740s and was William Morris’s family home from 1848 – 1856. It is the only public gallery devoted to William Morris and not only houses some wonderful exhibitions and a tearoom (get the brownie) but there is also the most fabulous shop, which, if you are in any way a fan of Morris, will make you weep with delight.

I was thrilled to be asked to curate my own edit of their gift shop for Christmas – it was an absolute honour. I took my time and picked out some of my favourite pieces – all of which you can now find here. There is also a very special 20% discount on all of the items in my edit – just use the code POPPY20.

For those of you who are familiar with many of the prints and patterns that William Morris is most famous for, you’ll find these in abundance, enveloping fragrant soaps, journals and cushions.. and adorning greeting cards, umbrellas, toiletry bags, scarves and a gorgeous range of wrapping paper…

I challenge you to not find something in the shop that wouldn’t make the perfect Christmas gift for someone you know. I’ve got my eye on several goodies!

The gallery sits proudly on the edge of Lloyd Park – a beautiful and large green space that I’ve spent many an afternoon wandering through (and playing in the sand pit and on the swings with Izzy)…

They even have face masks covered…

The Gallery underwent a major redevelopment during 2011-12. The project was led by Waltham Forest Council, which owns and manages the Gallery, and was supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Friends of the William Morris Gallery and lots of other charitable trusts, sponsors and individual donors.

The historic house was fully and beautifully refurbished which included the addition of a new tea room (I’ll say it again, get the brownie) a special exhibition gallery and a collection store.

They even have a large collection of bold and exciting jewellery..

The shop is now closed, while we are in lockdown, however their website is very much alive and kicking and fun to the brim with William Morris goodies for you to fill all your various Christmas stockings…

I love this Blackthorn print on the cushion – it reminds me of a storybook I had as a child.. so nostalgic…

I’ve got a little helper with my Christmas wrapping this year… Izzy is rather taken with the Suffragette Christmas decoration. She thinks she’s called Mary Poppins. I can see the likeness!

I also chose one of the keep cups to add to my edit…

I’d love you to have a look at my Christmas edit and let me know what you think! And don’t forget, you can get 20% off all the products I’ve selected with the code POPPY20.

And next time you’re in Walthamstow, once the restrictions have lifted, do pop by and have a stroll in Lloyd Park and explore the gallery and the shop. It’s a total treat and oasis of calm in this busy bustling neighbourhood…

But for now, merry online mooching!
