The best photos of the Birdcage 2019 at the Melbourne Cup Carnival
The 2019 birdcage at the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival is one of the best yet. This year features very classy and stylish marquees. Moreover, there are lots of spaces for the members to enjoy and relax. The “empty” spaces of the last year are filled up and more and fun entertainment is back.
We visited the birdcage at their official opening to showcase some of the beauty and luxury in that space. It’s for all Victorian Racing Club members to enjoy. For most of the branded marquees you need an invite to enjoy their hospitality. But there is also lots on offer for members to experience without an invite. This year it’s definitely worth strolling through the birdcage. It’s less about “celebrities” or “influencers” it’s more back to the customer and member. Walking past the facades of the marquees will give you lots of fun photo and Instagram opportunities. Enjoy your walk through the birdcage 2019 with us.

The Birdcage marquees 2019
Here is a quick overview of all the marquees at the 2019 Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival in the birdcage:
Landmark by Lexus
Lexus features a three-story building featuring a 90 seat restaurant by Oakridge. Chef Neil Perry Oakridge chefs Jo Barrett and Matt Stone will create a wonderful menu for the guests of Lexus. Lexus ambassadors Corey Brown and Emma Freedman presented the Melbourne Cup. Electric Hybrid (sorry … we really want an electric car!)
It’s a stunning marquee in the prime spot with beautiful views of the racetrack.
“Chapter one” by Furphy
A fun marquee with lots of interesting style elements. Guests will be taken on a journey to uncover the brewery’s connection to great Australian storytelling. Lots of tasty beer on 13 taps and 2 bars. Perfect views on the racetrack.
The Kennedy Pavillion
The Kennedy Pavillion moved to the Millionaires’ Row. The 2 story luxury pavilion was designed by Italian outfit La Cellula in collaboration with James and Jaimee Kennedy and Expomobilia. The structure draws inspiration from the beauty of the equine world. Shop-style windows feature on the street level of the marquee presenting some of Kennedy’s house of brands including Lots of brands are presented in shop style glass vitrines: Patek Phillippe, Cartier and Graff Diamonds.
Seppelt Wines Marquee
The Seppelt Wines Marquee with racing ambassador Rebecca Harding and winemaker Adam Carnaby, showcases a menu including a dessert infused with Seppelt’s finest sparkling white wine, Seppelt Salinger and Oak-aged feta using the brand’s flagship St Peters Shiraz barrels all paired with Seppelt’s portfolio of wines. Marquee guests will be entertained by electric-acoustic duo Perolas and will enjoy special touches including a bespoke Seppelt wine cart. The marquee has wonderful views and overlooks the stables.
Network 10 studio @ The Birdcage
In its first year in the Birdcage, Network 10 will present its live studio in the birdcage. It will not only play host to the Melbourne Cup Carnival broadcast but also Studio 10, 10 News First and The Project. An open TV studio in the Birdcage – that’s new and very suited. Big windows will allow the racegoers to see the TV action. An all-star cast of Network 10 talent including Matt White, Francesca Cumani, Kerri-Anne Kennerley, Jennifer Keyte, Brittany Taylor, Peter Moody, Jennifer Keyte and Kate Peck lifted the lid on the facility which also includes a second level for corporate hospitality. We still don’t know what the “pink faceless dancer” represents but it was cool and funky!
The Maison Mumm Hotel
The Maison Mumm Hotel opened its doors in chic style with a ribbon-cutting ceremony facilitated by Maison Mumm Marquee co-host Kate Peck & Dion Lee. The Australian fashion designer has designed the Maison Mumm Hotel uniforms. The highlight was the champagne bottle opening by Kate Peck – lots of fun getting a champagne shower.
Bumble Queendom was the phrase of the day in the Bumble marquee. Guest can feel like the ultimate boss on the flower throne – empowered and confident. The castle design was activated with a dramatic all-female ‘changing of the guard’. Bumble Marketing Director APAC Michelle Battersby opened the marquee.
The Tabcorp marquee is all about the stunning design on the outside. An exterior mural featuring a larger-than-life hydrangea. The inside is kept minimalistic and features one large room – it will have space for plenty of racegoers. The amazing food offering is prepared by Guy Grossi and pastry chef Darren Purchase.
Herald Sun House
Herald Sun House unveiled its Three Blue Ducks Bar, Herald Sun Deck. It’s the highest viewing deck in the birdcage (also pretty narrow – but we admit it’s a wonderful space to enjoy the races.) The open design on the first level gives you also a perfect view of the racetrack.
The ELLE Garden highlights a beautiful display of greenery. It’s the place to relax from all the entertainment. A green jungle inside the birdcage for every member to enjoy. Organic drinks (non alcoholic) are on offer to refresh the racegoers at the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
The Lounge by Incognitus
The Lounge by Incognitus features beautiful horserace inspired artwork by Charles Billich … a must-see! Make sure you take a quick look and relax at the lounge.
1st Oliver St – lots fun in the Birdcage
1st Oliver street is a great place to party during the Spring Carnival. It’s the third year of the marquee. Butler Alfred welcomes everyone inside the private estate. It features a mansion – complete with bedroom, bathroom (the bar!) and some secret walk-in robes.
Bird Bath Bar
The bar features a 13m high birdcage with entertainment from Rocketman and dancers. A perfect space for members to hang out.
